Birth Stories..... Because every baby's journey is unique. 

​Where does your birth story begin? Was it with that first contraction? Or the moment you learned you were pregnant? Maybe it started with an image on an ultrasound. Or the decision to have a baby. Maybe for you, your birth story began way back when you met your partner and first imagined creating a family together.
 
No matter how you envision its narrative arc, your birth story deserves to be told, preserved and treasured. Capturing your memories, thoughts, perceptions and feelings on paper before they fade is a profound way of honoring this sacred event. But....you have a newborn, and you're a little busy right now. And maybe a little tired as well.
 
I can help. As a journalist and memoir writer, I'm professionally trained in working with people to tell their stories. We'll do an interview by phone or video call of up to an hour or so. In a low-key and unhurried environment, I'll encourage you to remember and recount all you can, helping you with guiding questions along the way if you need them, but mostly just listening as you tell your story, your way. (You’re welcome to include your partner, midwife or doula in the interview to help spark your memories as well.)
 
After we talk, I'll write up your narrative, told in your voice with your words but burnished with some editorial refinement, and send you a draft for review. You'll make edits or clarifications as you see fit. If there's more content you want to add, we can schedule a second interview. After up to two sets of revisions, I'll finalize your draft and present it to you as an electronic file. And then it's all yours -- to reprint, copy and distribute however you choose. You might even wish to have it printed with photos as a small book.
 
Want other perspectives included in the narrative? I can schedule additional interviews with your birthing partner, your mom, your sister, or anyone else whose voice and insights you feel are part of the story.
